Impact of the RICS Home Survey Standard for energy efficiency in residential buildings.
Overview
There is now more need than ever for transparent and impartial advice on energy-related matters as a result of increasing energy costs and worries about climate change.
In 2019, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) published the Home Survey Standard (HSS) to provide a clear framework which sets minimum expectations to protect and maintain consistent high-quality standards for residential property survey services that RICS members and regulated firms provide. The HSS introduced enhanced requirements for RICS members and regulated firms when reporting to clients on Energy Matters.
As a result, RICS members and regulated firms must be able to identify and advise on defects and deficiencies caused by inappropriate energy efficiency measures implemented within properties at all levels of service, in accordance with the HSS. There are also further energy related requirements depending on the level of survey being undertaken. The webinar will explore the requirements with real life examples to help provide practical advice to RICS members and regulated firms and surveyors working in the residential property sector.
