The 2021 NSW Government ‘Research Report on Serious Defects in Recently Completed Strata Buildings found that 39% of buildings experienced serious defects in the common property. In NSW these issues have led to a raft of regulatory measures aimed at improving construction quality, including a Strata Building Bond and Inspection Scheme (SBBIS). In New Zealand poor design, construction and maintenance has also created quality issues in residential high rise builds.

RICS chartered building surveyors play a key role in identifying and managing the rectification of defects in residential buildings and in this session, we’ll hear from two experienced surveyors about what they are seeing in their market.
