Overview
The RICS Residential Retrofit Standard will provide a clear, flexible framework within which members and regulated firms can provide high-quality residential retrofit advisory services.
With high energy prices, net-zero targets and the introduction of minimum energy efficiency standards, there is increasing demand for residential retrofit services but little consistency in how these services are delivered.
RICS are consulting on the draft Residential Retrofit Standard and seeking feedback to ensure that RICS members can advise consumers looking to retrofit their homes.
The RICS Residential survey shows that there is some evidence that energy efficient homes can be more desirable and achieve higher market value.
As the leading experts in residential property, RICS members are best placed to provide market-critical home retrofit surveys and advise on home energy efficiency improvements. The new RICS Retrofit Standard will bring clarity on the standards to be expected when such work is carried out and is part of a package of initiatives from RICS to champion sustainable practices, alongside our calls for the modernisation of the EPC scheme, establishment of a UK-wide retrofit programme and a whole life approach to measuring and monitoring built environment carbon emissions.
